Flags at Half Mast?

At this time of national tragedy, is a cricket match of India vs Pakistan necessary?  Don’t they have any compassion?  Is money that much important?  For those people who bought tickets to watch these matches, will you go to the stadium if your sister was gang raped and murdered?

I am talking about the young girl who was gang raped and murdered by six hooligans.  May she rest in peace.

For a school shooting, the U.S. President ordered American flags throughout the world fly at half mast, as a mark of country’s mourning.

Is any Indian flag at half mast now?  I don’t know.  Please let me know if any Indian flag is flying at half mast for mourning the death of this innocent young girl.  Is Mukherjee busy snacking jhal muri?

Wait for a month.  On January 26, everything will be forgotten.  Mukherjee will come in an open carriage and Singh will come in an open jeep – both of them beaming and waving to the people.

(The words “President” and “Prime Minister” are purposely omitted.)

  1. India can be one of the finest countries in the world, provided we have sensible people running our country.
But like the " Vallu pouch Kati vandhudh" story we may never come out of the grips of these self centered politicians, doesn't matter which party makes to the Gaddhi.

  2. In India in that case i think everyday the flag should be held half mast because no day dawns without eve-abusing and eve-teasing sometimes resulting in their end for ever. 'Care for chair' politicians see nothing else.

  5. Were there no baseball/basketball matches immediately after the shooting incident in US? Were all the sports events canceled over there, for this reason?

  6. Thanks for your comments Rajesh. I can remember two incidents. All sporting events were cancelled immediately after 9/11.

During Hurricane Katrina, football match was cancelled. The indoor football stadium (Louisiana Superdome) was used to house thousands of people seeking shelter from Hurricane Katrina. Many football players (earnings millions of dollars) allowed their lavish homes also to be used for this purpose.

  9. Even after this much protest, we hear new news about gang rapes everyday, SG! All of us are thick skinned. Nothing stirs our conscience unless it happens to one of our family members. Politicians are one among us. Even if BJP comes to power, they will behave in the same way.

  13. like every other national storm, the tension is goin to fade soon. Post her death, the protests and anger have shrunk to a list of facebook shares or tweets. Needless to say, our former president (read the merciful patil) have forgiven some rapists and the charges on them revoked, least can be expected from them, A country where men among the ruling are rapists, acts like a flag half past, unimaginable

  14. It is really sad indeed that all these events are not changing the attitude of many. It is a male dominated society. there is a mind set. Now every other day the politicians are giving bhashan that women should not cross lakshman rekha, what they should wear, how to walk, talk etc. where are we heading to..really sad..
A minister has come made some suggestions that to avoid rape incidents are -there should be separate buses for boys and girls and girls should wear a overcoat covering themselves instead of chunni.:/

  17. SG, I can understand your anger! BTW there are a group of people who feel that Indians who feel strongly about the Delhi incident and the million other such unreported incidents should boycott the Repulic day celebrations!
