Happily Married

There is a robotic engineer in China. Because of China’s “one child” policy, there are more men in China than women. This engineer was unable to find a bride to marry. Therefore, he decided to marry a robot he built. He married this robot in a simple ceremony attended by his mother and friends.

I want to wish them a happy married life. But, ever since I read this news item, I have these nagging questions in my mind:

Where are they headed for their honeymoon?

Is there a prenuptial agreement?

Was this consensual?

Will they adhere to one child policy of China?

Is she high maintenance?

Will she be included in his company health insurance?

Is she a trophy wife?

In case of divorce, who gets the home?

Joint Bank Account?

Will she get widow’s pension in case he dies?

Will she get social security based on her husband’s work record?

Can he claim deduction for her in his income tax return?

I have so many other questions. Since this is a family blog, I will stop here.  If you think of any other question, please let me know.  Thanks.

  1. This is soo funny, but there is only one answer to all your questions she is built as per his wants and likes..so no divorce, they will die at the same time (true love story) they will adopt 1 child, no prenup not high maintenance (remember he created her)

    1. Thanks for your comments Dee. This was supposed to be a sarcastic humor and not to be taken seriously. As Kamal Haasan said in his movie Pammal K. Sambandam "Joke sonna aarayakoodadhu. Sirikkanum".

  4. Though your set of doubts is in lighter vein, the marriage is a reality. Like Dee pointed out above, since she is a robot built to order, they will be "living happily ever after"!!! Given the high state of volatility of human relationships, we might see more of marriages with robots!!!

    1. Thanks for your comments Pradeep. Yup, we might see more of marriages with robots. I am waiting for the day when a female marrying a male robot.

  5. Hahaha so this is their next big thing... Chinese are extremely smart people and I really admire them for the smart works. So he is spared from a wife who would have nagged on bad choice of Honeymoon Destination, and other trivial complains. And she will hear more to him than any other wife.
Jokes apart that is really sad that he had to face this,. May be he wanted to create awareness about his situation. I wish we have similar robot-wives for the people who are anti-female child in India...

  6. this is a good consequence of that stupid one child policy and the preference for male children, now these Chinese men will go nuts in decades to arrive and will raise robots as babies! hahahah! interesting post :)

    1. Thanks for your comments Ankita. After reading your comments I have more questions. Will the dad "make" a baby robot or the mommy robot will "deliver" a baby robot?

  7. This set me thinking the extent to which human ingenuity can take a man or woman.Whether it is a bane or boon, time alone can say. As you rightly said there will be many unanswered questions.

    1. Thanks for your comments Sujatha. If he had as many questions before proposing to that robot, he would not have married that robot. If he had these questions after marriage, God help him. HaHaHa.

  10. I don't think he can even register his wife officially in the Govt. records. If he can, the Govt. there is also crazy!!

  13. Some human brains are surrounded by fantasy, fancy and mystery. If he falls sick, will she carry him to the hospital? When he will be no more, will shed a tear of sorrow?

Funny write-up,SG. I too read the news. I laughed it off.But your questions are genuine.
