Left in the fridge
Days go by
He opens the fridge
Sees the piece of cake
Leave it for her to eat
She opens the fridge
Sees the piece of cake
Leave it for him to eat
A week goes by
He argues she should eat
She argues he should eat
One more week goes by
They decide to split the cake
And open the fridge
The cake has become rotten
Both stare at each other
Selfless love in their eyes
Beautiful! True love!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Sandhya. I appreciate it.
DeleteProbably one of them could have bought another cake on the first day itself so that both could've eaten?

Thanks for your comments Rajesh. This was a left over cake piece from a large cake they bought for a party they hosted. Also this logical thinking did not happen when they put the left over piece in the fridge on the first day. People just put the left over in the fridge and don't think about it.

ReplyDeleteExcellent poem. A moving one, it portrayed the true love that is not demonstratively shown but in a subtle manner. It brought back fond memories of such instances. Thank you.
(For some reason, my system is not picking up his comment. I have no idea why. My humble apologies to Mr. KP.)
