There was a news item in USA a week
ago. In Florida , a dad came home at 1 A.M. in the
night and walked into his 11 year old son’s room. He saw an 18 year old man sexually abusing
and raping his son. He was the babysitter for this kid till the dad came home. Dad got angry as any dad would.
He took care of him the next 20
minutes and then called the 911 (Emergency Call System in USA ). It includes medical emergency also. He told the operator what happened and asked
them to send an ambulance. The operator
asked if there were any weapons involved.
The dad replied “my foot and my fist”.
Look at the 18 year old after the dad took care of him for 20 minutes. I would say the dad showed extraordinary
restraint.
(Courtesy: Yahoo)
Police did not charge the
dad. The Chief of Police said: The dad did what a dad has to do.
The 18 year old is charged with
sexual battery on a child under 12. He is being held without bail. I don’t think this guy would go near a kid in
future.
This is what I have been telling
my family and friends in India
for years. Even today my heart bleeds
when I think of that medical school girl in New Delhi who was gang raped in December
2012. I have been telling everyone the
judge should release all the rape and pedophile criminals on one condition. They are free to get out of the court on the
condition they should walk home. The
judge should also tell the police to stay away.
We need the cooperation of the
police also. Police should not book any
criminal case against rapists and pedophiles. If it is proved they are the culprits, police
should ask them to go home walking (with advance information to the victim’s
relatives.) (Caution: We don't want to make the police as the "judge" and "jury" also.)
Some people will say we should not take the law into our own hands. This is not at
all like this. Parliament should change
the current law (to what I have suggested) with regard to punishing the person
who is found guilty of rape/pedophile.
If we are all united in this we can achieve this. How?
Bombard with thousands of emails
to your MPs.
Call their phone numbers and leave
messages.
Fax your requests to your MPS.
Tell them not to come to your
city/town/village unless this bill is passed.
You can always use Facebook and
Twitter. (Modi likes these two. He will read and get the message.)
What do you think?
What do you think?
In Bangalore; there are 3 separate incidents in less than a month. I am shocked that Bangalore has become unsafe. What you said is a fitting punishment but the bills and laws take forever in India to change.
ReplyDeleteThe juvenile rape culprit was the most cruel among the culprits in the Delhi rape case but the law is being nice to him because he is under 18. Such is our law.
Its hopeless
Thanks for your comments Insignia. The Facebook and Twitter are very powerful tools. We all should pressure the politicians to change the law.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder how people go ahead with honor killings while rapists roam free...Is rape not a violation of the woman's honor, does it not warrant killing? People are selective about justice, only when something hurts them personally, people look for swifter justice. I does not matter what laws/bills are passed, the enforcement without misuse of loopholes or abuse of the law itself is more important.
ReplyDeleteI have an idea for stopping rape in India.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Lorena Bobbitt
Damn it!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I can't believe how humans make so many problems.
Is humanity lost?
Thanks for your comments Reshma. That is why I am saying that we, the people, should pressure the politicians with out voting power to change the laws that would enable swift justice. Millions of Indians can use Facebook and Twitter as tools. Mr. Modi will read them and listen.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Lorena. Your idea is the best one. Better than my idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat is your idea? I know and I am going to explain because you are not known outside of USA (ala Sachin Tendulkar).
You were an innocent sexually abused housewife. Suffering abuse from the husband everyday. You could not take it anymore. One day, when he was drunk and asleep, you took a sharp knife and cut off his manhood. He was in a pool of blood. You went out and threw it in some dump. Now you are an advocate for abused woman.
Thanks for your comments Camila. People should show their voting power.
ReplyDeleteCamila, show that power on October 5, 2014.
I think Catch them, Shoot them will work much better ..
ReplyDeletethe problem is there is no detterrent at the moment , the criminal knows he will get away with it .. easy peasy
and people will forget in a week
Bikram's
Pelt stones in public by public. Allow them to die slowly. shooting them will wipe out pain in few seconds.
ReplyDeleteFrom Nirbhay's case till now the word Rape is news everyday.
Not that it was not in our society . But more are reporting such cases which was getting hushed up.that itself is a good change I think.
The delay in reporting and taking action against the criminal, esp. in the current Bangalore school case, is shocking. It's good that news channels reported it and people protested in huge numbers - now the correspondent and the perpetrator are behind the bars. Bringing such cases to the notice of the press immediately, could be a good idea.

Why do men and women abuse?
ReplyDeleteOne reason would be because they were not taught to respect women and men, because they are not able to see how much damage they cause by abusing or maybe because they don't care if they hurt others or not.
we can come up with a million ways to get back at someone who abused another human being but maybe we will never get a chance to put all those punishments into practice. Even if we do get a chance to punish and get back at someone who did abuse us or who committed any type of abuse, we are still not going to be able to really help the person who suffered the abuse. It takes years and lots of effort to feel better and recover from abuse. I want to do something about it. I have a child and I will teach my child to be respectful and not to be an abuser. Anybody who has a child can do this starting right now and help this way. There will be many adults out there in the future who will not abuse, who will have respect for women and men.

I agree with you, SG. They should die with shame. Death should not be instant. They should be given time to repent. If a boy is capable of rape, he should be punished as an adult. Only severe, shaming punishment might reduce this much rape cases in our country. Every morning I seem to read more and more cases of minor children/babies being raped. Feel frustrated.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Bikram. I am on your side. First shoot them and then ask "did you do it".
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Chitra. I am saying the same thing as you are. Let us make this pelting stone LEGAL by pressuring our MPs to change the punishment law.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Rajesh. Don't bring it to the notice of the press. If I give them a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label, they will write whatever I tell them to write.
ReplyDeletePlease bring pressure on the MPs and Mr. Modi.
Thanks for your comment Belyeny. And, welcome to my blog. I agree with you 100%. We may punish the guilty. But the victim will be suffering all the time.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are a role model mother for bring your kid in the right direction.
Belyeny, please visit here as often as possible. Thanks.
Thanks for your comments Sandhya. I am glad you agree with me.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really scary. Crimes against children is not at all acceptable. I am glad he is being held without bail.
ReplyDeleteThank you SG for the welcoming words and yes, I was thinking about expressing myself here in this blog often. I would like to give my opinion on interesting topics. I have read your past blogs and I have learned very much already. It is a good place on the web where to discuss and find out the how other people feel and how they would solve problems present daily in our lives. I like how creative people get here, like the post by Lorena Bobbitt.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Belyeny
Thanks for your comments Lady Lilith. I am with you. Pedophiles have no place in this world.
ReplyDeleteThere are multiple reasons for the terrible malaise we are seeing. (Some of the equally terrible consequences of this, I have listed in my blog.
ReplyDeletehttp://bpradeepnair.blogspot.in/2014/07/rape-fallout-fear-suspicion-loss-of.html)
Strong law and equally strict implementation of the law will work to a great extent, no doubt. At least it will reduce the number of incidents that we witness.
But, in spite of a strong deterrent, there will be deviant minds that will continue to engage in this despicable act. Those can be attributed to social and psychological reasons.
I am not quite sure if online campaign can yield much result. When Nirbhaya incident happened, there was nationwide online and offline outrage; and laws were strengthened. In fact, there were a couple of fast-court convictions too. But nothing seems to have changed on the ground.
Bottom line for now: These are very dangerous times. There'sn't much light at the end of the tunnel. Just do whatever best we can do to bring about change. And most importantly, take care.
Thanks for your reply Belyeny. I am very pleased that you read my previous posts. Even if they are very old posts, I would very much welcome your comments. Your comments are always welcome - good or bad.
ReplyDeleteI see you have attended Chabot College. I took a few courses in Cal State Hayward.
Delhi has become the rape capital.
ReplyDeleteI don't think any law can stop rapes. Its their damn attitude.
True,SG. Ever-remembering punishment should be given and that should be displayed in front of the the public. The criminals' sense and reason sink in Narcotics now a days. The life of the prey in most cases slip out of their control.
ReplyDeleteHi SG,
ReplyDeleteYes, I attended Cal State Hayward (East Bay now). I completed my general education there in the years 2001-2003. It was a great experience. When did you attend there? and what courses you completed?
I read lots of your old posts. The photos you have included with the information and your opinion are awesome. I haven't traveled much and enjoy seeing photos of different places.

I agree with you SG. I feel they should be stoned to death by public, the way it happens in some countries. I do not expect such people to get reformed by sitting in jail for some years.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Pradeep. I certainly will read your blog tonight. You are correct. Strict implementation will work a lot. You are right. Online campaign will not yield the desired result.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Mr. Chowla. I agree with you. It is their damn attitude.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Belyeny. Please write me an email and we will discuss Cal State Hayward. I would have written to you. But I don't know your email address.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Ash. You are absolutely correct.
ReplyDeleteSo-called human activists should be told to apply their empathy for 'human beings', not for perverted , sadistic, inhuman specimens.
ReplyDeleteThe Indian courts may be keeping a copy of Bhagwad Gita, but they sure have learnt nothing from it. The BG clearly says, 'Show no mercy to evil.'
other than social media, there is an organisation called avaaz.com which goes on a signature campaign and ensures the matter reaches the top heads of the government. we also have the RTI. Everytime there is a rape, many take to social media by flaunting black dot as dp, there is an uproar and it settles down after some days.
ReplyDeletei think once they should publicly punish the culprit by giving shocks like in electric chair and beam it on tv, so that their is a sense of fear in those dirty minded people.
