Puerto Vallarta - The Wedding

Last weekend was the wedding. We left San Francisco on Friday for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and returned on Tuesday. Saturday evening was Mehandi. Sunday was wedding and reception.  (There was Mehandi for men also.  Until that day, I thought Mehandi was only for ladies/girls.  No, I did not have Mehandi on me.)

Here, I have to praise the Bride and the Groom. They both paid for the room charges at the Westin Hotel for us. (May be they paid for all the guests. I don’t know).  Paying for one couple at a 5 star hotel for 4 nights will cost an arm and a leg.  The marriage function was only for 2 days. But we wanted to stay for extra 2 days for sightseeing purpose. It is very nice of them to pay for all 4 days

This was a pleasant surprise for us.  We never expected this.  We were prepared to pay for all 4 days.

These two made all the physical arrangements themselves and paid all the expenses for their wedding.

Here are some photos from the marriage. I purposely did not show any face.

Sunday Brunch (between breakfast and lunch) served here

Wedding Mandapam (near the water) - photo taken during day time

Wedding Mandapam at night - photo taken during dinner time

Dinnner Buffet

Several make shift arrangements for dinner at the beach

  3. Hello greetings and good wishes.

Lovely photos of the wedding arrangements. I agree the couple was super considerate and very generous in paying for all the four days. Surely, all of you had a wonderful time and fantastic experience.

Weddings are always special and in general no expenses are spared to have a grand wedding. Grand arrangements, glittering ceremony, sumptuous food and wonderful times are part and parcel of the mega event. The couple always want the wedding day to be remembered by all. In one wedding ceremony I attended the couple gave away plant saplings to the guests. I thought that this truly magnificent and they will be remembered long after the wedding.

    Best wishes

  5. The no. guests seem to be less, but even in India nowadays the no. of guests coming for a wedding has decreased drastically. The location is good, and the example set by the hosts by paying the hotel bill (as they were the ones who wanted the concept wedding) is welcome.

  6. Thanks for your comments Rajesh. There were about 100 guests. I would say that is a lot since the venue (Puerto Vallarta, Mexico) is not in our backyard. Plus, I put here a few photos only where the face of any individual is not shown.

  11. Mehendi for men! Quite interesting!
Beautiful pictures, SG! I wished to see the mandapam in the night, it would have looked fabulous, right?
Bride and the groom deserve appreciation for not only sharing wedding expenses but also for paying for your stay! They must have a very kind heart, I feel, being wealthy or not is not a measure to their willingness to spend for others!
    TC! keep smiling :)

  13. This is definitely the way to go. people should take responsibility for everything the instead of burdening the parents. My sister's daughter who lives in Boston too had made the arrangement for her own marriage along with her fiancee They also made it clear to their parents that they would be having a small ceremony with only close relatives and friends invited.
It must have been a wonderful experience for you and your wife.

  15. What a wonderful place!
I always found it very beautiful make wedding on the beach.
But since I'm Catholic I still prefer a church full of flowers.
A friend from college, evangelical, is getting married at the end of 2015 and the wedding will be outdoors. Not on the beach but is also in nature (:

  24. God! I am horrified at the idea of marriage as an institution ( I swear it not swag to say)

but I so dearly wish to marry after reading this post.

    :)

I hear by promise to document every single detail of my marriage.
I guess I just have to stay optimist enough to make it happen.
