Quote Challenge Post #3

This is a challenge post.  According to this challenge:

Post one of your favorite quotes (different quote on each day) on three consecutive days. The quote can be from your favorite book, author, or your own.

Nominate 3 bloggers to challenge them.

Thank the blogger, who nominated you.

I am tagged by our blogger friend Ph_, owner of the blog, Cascading Thoughts. Thanks a lot Ph_ for tagging me.

Here is my third quote:

''There is always inequity in life. Some men are killed in a war, and some men are wounded, and some men never leave the country, and some men are stationed in the Antarctic, and some are stationed in San Francisco. It's very hard in military or in personal life to assure complete equality. Life is unfair.''

Late U.S. President John F. Kennedy

Some people dine regularly at the Kitcho Restaurant in Kyoto, Japan. Cost: Around $600 per person without drinks. They have no problem swiping their credit cards.

Look at this poor old pensioner in Athens, Greece. The Government is broke and the banks are closed. People are starving because they cannot withdraw money from the bank to pay for food.

  2. Everything is relative. You can also compare that photo with a different entity and the context changes drastically - 'Look at the man in Greece, he is only skipping a few meals, and here is the deer which is eaten by a pack of lions!'

  5. Very interesting quote and the mention of Greece.

Feel sorry for the people of Greece. Hope the problem gets solved soon. This is the first time this type of problem has cropped up, right?

    1. Thanks for your comments Sandhya. This is the third time. Greeks brought it upon themselves - I mean their government. People are allowed to retire at the age of 50 with 95% of the last salary drawn as pension. 80% of the people do not pay income tax. Everythng under the table and therefore unable to collect sales tax.

  8. This is so true. I loved this quote. Sometimes when we compare ourselves with others we always think life is unfair, the best way to console ourselves would be to compare our current situation with what we were sometime back. Perhaps that would help!

  10. Yes, life is unfair or it appears to be unfair. When we are in sorrow/trouble, every other person we meet appears to be the happiest. Or is it that we are unable to see the troubles others are having may be because we are busy enjoying happiness in our life? All these questions lead us to a conclusion that life is not about asking for equality but it is about living the present moment learning new things every time life offers happiness/sorrow...

Nice quote with apt photograph, SG.
