Pizza

People in many cities claim bragging rights for pizza. New Yorkers claim their pizza is the best. Chicagoans claim their deep dish pizza is out of this world. I have tasted pizza in many cities in USA and also around the world.

My best pizza experience was in Venice, Italy.

We were in a pizza place this weekend in a small town called Issaquah in Washington State. This is located in the suburb of Seattle. Their pizza turned out to be pretty good. This is not a national/international franchise. Independently owned.

Here are 2 photos of the pizza we had.  Sorry not able to show the full pizza because the idea for a blog post came to me in the middle of eating.

Mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, roma tomatoes, black olives, tomato sauce

Italian sausage, pepperoni, fresh jalapeños, fresh garlic, tomato sauce

  1. OMG SG, now I am hungry and craving for Pizza. My Favorite memory and favorite Pizza is from São Paulo, Brazil, where there was the Pizza Buffet (Forgot the name of this place), where they would walk around with different types of Pizza and you could stop them to get which ever you liked (Slice), they had chocolate pizza and just tomato pizza, just tomato and garlic pizza and soo many different types..... phew I miss it.

  2. It must have been an out of the world experience to enjoy pizza in it's native :-) Lucky you!
I have not tasted pizza so far and I am not willing to :-) But, if ever I go to Italy in future, I wish to try the authentic pizza they make in the traditional way.

  3. Pizza is not my favourite. But it is ubiquitous and highly popular even in India among the young and old with its various toppings.
What intrigues me is why this sudden craving for this delicacy?

    1. Thanks for your comments Mr. KP. I don't know about India but I can speak for the US. It is very popular because of two reasons. Very tasty due to several toppings available. Very cheap. You can buy a large pizza for $10 that can feed a family of 4.

  4. I used to like pizzas much esp. when I was in Bangalore. Subs and Pizzas made for quick lunch. But in Chennai, there are so many tasty South Indian foods that nowadays I eat pizza maybe once in three months.

The first pic looks very inviting :) Glad the taste was good.

    1. Thanks for your comments Rajesh. While vacationing in India, I never go near pizza. When plenty of tasty Indian food is available why eat pizza in India!

  5. We are not very fond of pizza but like to have it once in a while with lot of cheese...one year's dieting will be gone. Love jalapeno s taste. I have tasted it in the US and UK..I remember eating only cheese! Here, it is mostly Indianized taste which is also OK with me:) Loved the first picture!

  7. Mouth watering post especially when we see the photographs. I think the taste of a food depends upon our appetite, leisure time, companions and the venue, doesn't it? nice.

  8. Pizza and similar items were available only in high-end hotels in India, until economic liberalisation in 1991 brought in foreign companies and their food habits within the reach of the not-so-rich. And, once it began making its appearance, I remember some of my friends bragging about how they had pizza, and flashing "that privileged look". Of course, it's now just another dish that is available everywhere.

  11. I love pizzas especially the thin crust ones from Pizza Hut. I think the best one I had was wood fired pizza at World Garden Cafe at Leh. Your pizza looks yum and I am yearning for one now!!
