My Voting Experience

I went to the polling booth yesterday and cast my vote.

Trump and his supporters are daily complaining voter fraud. I did not believe that.  But after yesterday's experience I am leaning toward believing them.

I go to the polling station.  Asked my name and I told them my name.  Asked for my address.  I gave them my address.  Asked am I a U.S. citizen. I said yes.  Asked in which language I want the ballot. I said English.  They gave me the ballot and asked me to vote and put it in a box that was there.

They never asked my ID.  They never asked proof of my residency.  They never asked proof of my citizenship.  No wonder liberals want as many illegal immigrants as possible so they will vote for them telling the election people that they are US citizens.

A friend of mine told me when I registered to vote they would have asked all the information in writing.  Yes.  The only proof they ask is copy of driver's license.  Driver license gives your date of birth and address  only. It does not say whether you are legal resident or illegal resident.  Whether you are US citizen or not.

Illegal immigrants cannot speak English?  Don't worry.  Ballots are printed in 12 languages in addition to English.

Khmer, Korean, Punjabi, Spanish, Hmong, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Chinese, Armenian, Bengali, Farsi, Arabic.

Only US citizens can vote.  There is an English test when one applies for naturalized citizenship.  The USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) test is designed for people who are not native speakers of English. But the test questions assume that the people being tested for citizenship have a basic knowledge of English.

So what is the need for ballots in 12 different languages?  Bring in millions of illegal immigrants (from non English speaking countries) and make them vote for their party?

  1. Interesting isn't it need for immigrants to increase the vote....... I did have a question though since you know so much about politics why are there other people for President/V.President other than the 2 main contenders.....no one even knows them....who are they?

    1. Thanks for your comments Dee. Good question. Anyone in USA who is a born citizen and 35 years of age can contest in presidential election. There are some people contest for fun. There are 2 small parties (Libertarian Party and Green Party) contest in every election. They have no chance to win. Sometimes, it is rumored, political parties arrange for a candidate to contest as a spoiler. This year it is rumored Trump asked Kanye West (Kim Kardashian’s husband) to contest and split the black votes from Joe Biden. It was too late because Kanye West could not qualify in all states. Even if a name is not on the ballot, you can write in a name on the ballot and vote.

In the last 60 years there was only one serious third candidate. Billionaire Ross Perot, Independent candidate, 1992.

  2. Your opening line was:
I went to the polling booth yesterday and cast my vote.

    SG - You suck!

I went and voted on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and on election day Tuesday! So take that, fool!

    A Michigan and Wisconsin Democrat

  3. OMG. Usually it is said that ruling party will do this. Trump complaints of fraud. US is different in all ways. Your voting experience is really shocking. Awaiting Michigan's reply for your query

  4. Here we can vote only if our name and address is there on that particular voting booth. We also need to produce voter ID card. Of course, there maybe ways to bypass these things - especially with people who don't come to vote.

In the US, can you go to any voting booth and cast ur vote?

    1. Thanks for your comments Rajesh. No you cannot go to any booth and cast your vote. Each voting booth covers certain streets. You must be living in those streets. When you say your name and address they check if your name is there in that address. That is all.

  5. There is something amiss here. What I learn is one has to be a registered voter and his passport is verified at the time of registration. The official while issuing the ballot paper checks the voters name and address with the voters' list.
If there were glaring loopholes in the system there would have been protests from both parties even in the earlier polls It is possible that someone else can vote earlier before the real voter but there cannot be more than one vote against a name.
But you should know better than me.

    1. Thanks for your comments Mr. KP. Yes, you have to register to vote. During that time, you have to give your name and address, driver license number, and write if you are a u.s. Citizen. They don't ask for any proof of citizenship. In fact, 80% of Americans don't have passport.

Trump and his people are complaining loud and clear that illegal immigrants who are not citizens are voting in large numbers.

    2. It is not that some one uses another person's name and vote before the real voter comes to vote. Illegal immigrants register and come to vote. No proof of citizenship is required, at least in California.

  6. Each state has its own rule. In California, they don't bother to check. Read this.

  7. I am sure there must be many other flaws in the US electoral system, besides the one you experienced.

It looks like there aren't representatives from all contestants at the counting centre ... If they are there, don't each of them have to testify the process is above board? ... Why is there so much confusion about counting?

My good guess is that both Democrats and Republicans have benefited (maybe enormously) from the terribly flawed system. Not just in presidential poll, but to the Senate and the House.

Allegations of fraud have come in from both parties. Not just this year, in the past polls too. The only difference is, theyb become loud only when the contests are close, irrespective of who has won or who has lost.

When presidents and leaders of each state know very well that contests can be close, why don't they fix the flaws in the system. For example, apparently the mail-in balloting is full of loopholes. Then, why didn't anyone fix it all these years?

Is it because both parties think they can benefit from the flawed system, when it suits them?

    1. Thanks for your comments Pradeep. Election fraud has been going on for a long time. Both parties benefit from the flawed system. The biggest fraud was how Kennedy won in 1960 against Nixon. Kennedy became one of the greatest Presidents in the U.S. history is a different matter. Orchestrated by his Vice Presidential running mate Lyndon Johnson there were vote switching, ballot box stuffing, and dead people voting in alphabetical order. A reporter, Rick Casey wrote an article about it. You may want to google it.

  8. God! It is strange to note that any immigrant with a driving license could vote for a candidate. so, anybody can adopt any sort of manipulations. Thank you for the interesting information.
