I saw a Malayalam movie Pookkaalam today. This is not a review about the direction, cinematography, songs, etc. This is what my opinion of the movie.
There is a couple in their 90s and married for 80 years. One day, the man finds a love letter written long time ago by someone to his wife. His wife is silent about this. Therefore, the man decides to file for divorce. This leaves his family (children and grandchildren) completely devastated. Great family drama.
Did they finally get a divorce? Please watch the movie to find out.
The movie was directed by Ganesh Raj. The story is nonconformist. It is about marital strife.
Vijayaraghavan acted as the nonagenarian husband. The make-up person did a great job that the actor looked really like he is in his 90s.
The 90-year-old wife’s portrayal of her improper past was not convincing.
The court scenes can be called “comedy”.
On the whole, I liked this movie.
They got married when they were 10? They were probably aiming for a guniess record for the oldest couple to get divorced!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Rajesh. Interesting observation. One of their grandson is named Guinness in that movie.
DeleteI haven’t seen the film. From what you have written, i guess that the unusual and embarrassing discovery of a past in the evening of the couple’s lives must have given scope for fine acting by the lead actors and possibly ended on a happy note as you liked the film. I will try to watch it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Mr. KP.
DeleteI must watch this movie ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Pradeep. Please watch it and tell me your opinion of the movie.
DeleteGood for him! No reason for a guy in his 90s to be a simp. Sigma mentality baby! Speaking of babies, it's time for him to hookup with a chick in her 20s and make new babies.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Al Pacino
Thanks for your comments Al. He is not rich like J. Howard Marshall to get Anna Nicole Smith.
DeleteMaybe I will reach out to find the ending from.you.... in any case I feel that such an discovery shouldn't change or affect anything..... since it was in the past
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Dee.
DeleteVery good Observation Uncle
