God’s Divine Games

Today is Good Friday. It is a holy day commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death.

Day after tomorrow is Easter. It is a Christian festival commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. On this day, in Churches, there is Easter Egg hunt. It is a traditional fun activity where children search for hidden eggs or Easter eggs.

A couple who are very good friends of mine invited me for attending Easter Egg hunt because their one-year-old son is participating. And, invited me for lunch in a restaurant afterwards. After thinking a lot, I told them I will accept their lunch invitation but declined to attend the Church for Easter Egg hunt.

Yesterday, a friend of mine called me. She is from El Salvador. She requested me if I would accompany her to Good Friday Church Services today. I told her no. She said she has nobody to accompany her and she does not want to go alone. And, she does not want to miss the Church services. (I was thinking in my mind what I would say if someone invites me to go to a temple on an auspicious occasion. Would I say no?). I finally gave up and said I would accompany her to the Good Friday Church Services.

Spent in the church for more than an hour. It was very interesting but I did not understand anything. I went along with the flow – standing up several times, kneeling several times, holding hands with the person standing next to you.

Came out of the church. My mind felt a sense of peace. Is this called God’s Divine Games?

  1. Each and every place of worship of different religions gives a different feeling. Though it is noisy, we get a positive vibe when we go to the temple, a sense of peace when we visit the churches and the mosque and gurudwara give a different satisfaction. Must be the God's divine games

  3. I liked your last concluding sentence. I do not know about divine intervention but I am certain the ambiance was conducive to the sense of peace.
We are witness that most people, save a negligible few, who visit holy places of whatever religion are driven during that limited time by good thoughts, devotion in various degrees and charity without the usual toxic thoughts prevalent elsewhere.
This has a positive impact usually.

  5. In my opinion the sense of peace and harmony comes from the fact that all the rituals or acts you did, whether praying or sitting or standing or kneeling, you did in unison with a community of people.

Many of us might experience a similar feeling when we sing the national anthem together with a hundred or thousand other people. The feeling of being in a community.

    Cheers,

  6. That is the condition of the mind. The mind spins around things as per situations and arrives at an inference, sometimes beneficial and sometimes harmful, S.G. In temples pooja time is noisy with bells, otherwise 'Shanti, Shanti, Shanti' is the theme. In churches I think, preaching followed by self-prayer and silence. Mosques are not around where we stay. Anyway prayers by others or by us may bring some serenity to the mind.
