Recently I wrote a post on introverts. One of my blogging friend, Chitra, asked me to write a post on extroverts. Therefore, he it is:
People think an extrovert is one who is very friendly and outgoing. That may be true. But a real extrovert is the one who is energized by being around other people. (An introvert is energized by being alone.) They are also called gregarious and unreserved persons.
Extroverts don’t want to be alone. They want to be with other people. They enjoy social situations and even seek them out. They are very good at small talk. They are quite comfortable approaching a total stranger and having conversation. Extroverts tend to think as they speak. (But an introvert will think thoroughly before they speak.) For an extrovert, concept doesn’t seem real unless they talk about it.
They are good at managing people. In a work environment, they will be very popular managers. Employees would love to work for them. And, if they are transferred to another department, employees want to follow them.
In summary, extroverts are interested in what is happening around them. They are very open and talkative. They often compare their opinions with the opinion of others. They like action. Easily make friends. They say what they think. This may land them in trouble sometimes. They can easily break unwanted relationship or friendship with no regret. Some famous extroverts are:
Alexander the Great
Sir Walter Raleigh
Thomas Edison
Eddie Murphy
Robin Williams
Anthony Robbins
Weird Al Yankovick
Tom Hanks
Almost all politicians
Most industrialists

Nice post. For some reason, Tom Hanks doesn't seem to be an extrovert...not that I know him or know too much about him, but just going by what I've seen in movies...sounds stupid I know :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Titaxy. You are correct to some extent. He said in an interview that he was horribly shy and reserved when he was young. But later changed.
ReplyDeleteYou don't sound stupid. In my view, you are a Very Special human being.
Thats just an elaborate update on extroverts SG, good one..are you a part of the clan too ?:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Sana. I am an extreme extrovert.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this post. I think I am a mixture of both.Is there some thing in between these, I wonder.
ReplyDeleteInteresting topic. I'm certainly an introvert. I love talking but don't usually go out of my way and start conversations :) Extroverts are always the life of any group/gang/party !! ;-D
ReplyDeleteNice post.Well, I am an introvert who's married to a chronic extrovert and we've got a son who's an extreme extrovert:)
ReplyDeleteThanks SG! Based on the characteristics you have listed, looks like I am an extrovert to some extent...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Chitra. I am glad you are 50 50. There must be something inbetween. But I don't know the word.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments lostworld. My wife and I are extreme extroverts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Sanand. I am glad you have extro vs intro 2to 1 in your family. That is a good balance.
ReplyDeleteIn our family, me and my wife both exteme extroverts. Both of us talk talk and talk 24 hours in subjects ranging from ballistic missiles to how to make kara kuzhambu.
Thanks for your comments NRIGirl. From reading your posts, I thought you could be an extrovert. I am right.
ReplyDeleteHi SG , I can relate to this post. They taught us the Briggs Myers personality analysis in a training at work and this changed my perception of people completely
ReplyDeleteI am definitely an extrovert in my job as a hostess at Conferences as you can imagine, good grief. But then I retrieve to my cave,so I am 50/50 like chitra.
ReplyDeleteI read both introvert and extrovert and I guess I am an introvert or am I a dreamer? I dont know, people accuse me of not listening to what they talk sometimes and it is true. My mind drifts to something I need to finish or something or some one from my past. I want to get out of this habit but fails miserably...
ReplyDeleteNice follow up to your introvert article :) I am friends with a lot of extroverts and they are fun to be with :)
ReplyDeleteand Tom Hanks too? hmm.. I wonder.
