Kuch Aise Hi Din the, Woh Jab Hum Miley Teh
Chaman Mein Nahin, Phool Dil Mein Khiley The
Wohi Toh Hai Mausam, Magar Ruth Nahin Woh
Mere Sath Barsat Bhi, Roh Padhi Hai
Lagi Aaj Sawan Ki, Phir Woh Jadhi Hai

Meaning
Those days were something like this only,
when we had met, when the flowers had blossomed in our hearts instead of the gardens.
It's the same weather, but the times are not the same.
Now even the rain cries with me.

Please share with me some of your favorites of Sridevi.

RIP Sridevi

  1. Thanks Dee for writing this beautiful and informative guest post. I think her acting in the Tamil movie, 16 Vayathinile (at age 16), in the "Mayil" character was her best performance.

  2. You nailed this one Dee. Nice job.
And I gotta agree with Moondram Pirai at the top.
    RIP

What does surprise me is that a South Indian actress made it to the VERY TOP of Hindi films and blew away the competition in her generation.
    That’s an impossible accomplishment.

  3. Yes, it was a shock indeed. I still can't believe Shreedevi died due to accidental drowning!

It is nice to know about Shreedevi's real name and other details. Mr. India is my favorite too. Can't forget her role in Judai.

    Rest in peace, Shreedevi.

  6. Nice tribute for our Sridevi, Dee! Yes, Moondram Pirai comes first in my favourites of her movies, then 16 vayadinile, and then 'Meendum Kokila'. Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu also is a favourite! Sippiyirukkudhu, muththum irukkudhu...What expressions she gave for the words. Kamal and she were competing with each other in these movies. Thank god, Boney Kapoor pampered her a lot till the end. She must be happy wherever she is.

  9. More than anything it was such a shock. But that is life, is it not? Her immense talent helped her stay in the industry for as long as fifty years. How many artists can boast of that? A bit unfortunate that she couldn't see her daughter's film debut. But that was what destiny had for her.

  10. When we think of Sreedevi, her cute figure comes to my mind along with some scenes of her movies I have watched. A wide spread news says that she had undergone many a cosmetic surgery and that might have hindered her health to escape the drowning.Don't know about its reality.Any way may she RIP.
