Addiction

When I wake up, I go for it first thing in the morning

I have to get this fix even when I am going to work

I use it at least 10 times each day

At coffee break in office, I go for this habit

When we go for eating out in a restaurant, I use this without fail.

It makes me feel good.

I got to quit, but right now I can’t.

Even if I try to quit, I end up surrounded by people doing it and then I join in again.

It relaxes me. Without it, I get restless and bored

You thought I was writing about my cigarette smoking habit? No, I do not smoke. I am talking about my social media use.

A new study finds avoiding social media platforms for a week significantly improves a person’s wellbeing. It also reduces both anxiety and depression.

  1. Yes. Indeed it is addictive. One thing, during lockdown time, without social media, people would have gone crazy or died of boredom. Even now, for retired people, It is the best low cost entertainment

  2. It's a sad societal addiction. I've seen groups of people dining out together but all of them were texting and on social media sites instead of engaging with one another.

  4. Social media too has its plus and minus. Any tool is as good or bad as its users want it to be.

  5. I feel social media. mobile are necessities like clothes, perfume, hair cream etc. I don't think it as addiction.

  6. Social media is such an addiction these days, it is scary at times. The number of times I have reached out to it when stressed or sad is alarming, this should not be the way we deal with our difficult moments.

  8. Yes, it steals my time too. It has two main aspects-useful and health deteriorating. Of course, it helps us spend time usefully in reading writing and even in Arithmetic. Improve knowledge and expand creativity. But eyes, brain and brawn will be adversely affected if too much is its use. Sleeplessness is mostly the result of this.

Nice topic S.G. Please do not wonder, if I come with an article or short story on this subject.
