Republican Primary Update

So far, there have been primary election in 3 States. Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. Donald Trump trounced his opponents in all 3 states. There were only 3 people contesting against Trump.

Vivek Ramaswamy – withdrew from the contest after the Iowa primary and gave full support to Trump.

Ron DeSantis – withdrew from the contest after the New Hampshire primary.

Nikki Haley – South Carolina is her home state. She was a popular Governor of that state. But Donald Trump trounced her today by a margin of 60% to 40%. Nikki does not want to quit. She wants to fight Trump in the coming primaries. Next primary is on March 5. It is called Super Tuesday. 15 States and one union territory will be voting. It looks like Trump will be the victor on Super Tuesday also.

Mr. Trump says he is considering 6 people for the Vice President slot. Two of them are Vivek Ramaswamy and Tulsi Gabbard.

Tulsi was a Democrat and resigned from that party in 2022. With the name “Tulsi”, lot of people think she is of Indian origin. She is not. She is an American Samoan born and brought up in Hawaii. Tulsi is a vegetarian and a practicing Hindu. She is a combat veteran holding the rank of Lt.Col. Well liked by people in both parties.

Stay tuned for Super Tuesday.

    1. Thanks for your comments Madhu. Tulsi is also equally good and people in both parties like her. Plus, Americans go crazy over war veterans.

  3. Though I don't know anything about US politics your blog made me wait eagerly for the super Tuesday. Two of the 6 considered candidates of Trump are Hindus. As an Indian/Hindu I want Vivek to win but at the same time Tulsi is also a well deserved/experienced candidate. Fingers crossed

  4. To make someone Vice President, he needs to become President. Is he that sure?

    1. Thanks for your comments Rajesh To run for election, he has to choose a running mate. That is what he is doing.

  5. Despite Haley’s questioning his fitness, Trump has had a sweeping victory in the four state nominating contests and seems making a daring and possibly a triumphant march to the 15 state Super Tuesday voting exercise. Remains to be seen whether he will be the Republican’s answer to Democrat’s Biden

    1. Thanks for your comments Mr. KP. I forgot to mention about Nevada. Nikki got less votes than NOTA.

  6. The way Nikki is staying on is quite remarkable. She has raised lots of funds. That's what's keeping her going. She has her eyes on 2028. Whoever is the Vice President, he won't have an easy time, knowing Trump. Though everyone is thinking Trump will win in November, some of my friends in the US are telling me that Biden will win by a thin margin like in 2020.

    1. Thanks for your interesting comments Pradeep. First, let us see if Biden is the Democratic party nominee. Many do not want him due to his age and dementia.
