Crime, Crime, Crime

There is a town named Atherton in California.  Super rich people live in Atherton.  The average value of a home there is $4 million.  But I will not live there even if I could afford (some day) to buy a home.  Why?  I cannot not deal with the crimes in Atherton.  In USA, entries from police logs are published everyday in the local newspapers. Here are some entries from Atherton police logs.

  11. Thanks for your comments Ash. Never heard of Atherton? It is only 17 miles from Santa Clara (via Central Expy). About 3 miles from Palo Alto. Hope you buy a home in this town very soon. Average price is only $4 million.

  20. Very funny.
Well, normally even taking a taxi from the airport may lead to serious, unpleasant, and unexpected consequences: just watched a movie where an innocent man was troubled, robbed and hurt for no fault of his. In America anything is possible with their gum culture, and their shooting without any reason. I wonder whether it is only the movies that are responsible for giving the people ideas or are there really some psychos waiting to pounce on innocent people.
Of course, people who have been living there for many years may say, that all that is just hyped up news, and just don't go by what is shown in the movies.
However, frightening things happen off and on in India too, like a woman was brutally hit and seriously injured while she was in the ATM, just 2 days back in Bangalore.
We may think such things happen only in countries like the US, but it can happen anywhere.
I am always in two minds when i see good infrastructure, and generally a good life in the US, I really like the idea of living there, but wen I come across some terrible crime news, the gunning of innocent people etc., I feel I am better off here itself.
Strange how the mind plays games, pulling us from both directions.
Sorry to be commenting on totally different subject.
Your blog reminded me of a town i forgot the name, it has the GE head office there, it is supposed to be super rich , with houses very expensive and all the frills and fancies, but it is also has the highest crimes there contributed by the ultra rich kids, and the police are either highly corrupt or they are influenced by the rich families who prevent them from taking action against their kids.
In fact i read that life there is pretty boring. I was happy my son did not take up the job offer from that company.
Sorry again SG for deviating from the topic.

  21. The mother of my friend (when she was a teenager) she stole food in the neighbors house, because her parents said she had to diet and had no food in her house!

  22. Thanks for your comments Rama. Please don’t feel sorry. This space is for you to write whatever is on your mind. I welcome that free expression. Most of the bad things you see/hear about USA are all from movies and televisions who want to sensationalize any incident. It is not a daily occurrence in every town.

Americans think the same thing about India. Women are raped in every town. All the hotels are attacked by terrorists. All hotel employees are thieves and try to rape women in their room. I visit India every year. I know this is not true.

GE’s headquarter is in Fairfield, Connecticut. Fairfield is a nice town with less crime. I think you may be thinking of a different city.
