I use "whatever", "honestly" and "trust me" quite often..does it make me annoying? whatever. honestly speaking, I don't care; trust me.
ReplyDeleteCool observations..there is one more thing that annoys me..when you use "what are you saying" as an expression and people repeat what they just said! sigh!!
hilarious post SG :)
I do use "anyways" while chatting. I dont use it while talking though!! hmmm....Interesting.
ReplyDeleteFor me, any phrase/word over-used is annoying. Many people tend to use words such as "like", "you know", "so" multiple times without reason
Eg. I wanted to talk..you know...about the document...you know...you sent me yesterday. You know, it was difficult to understand..you know...sort of vague
such polls are so entertaining. love them. and I use a lot of "hmm you know". I myself get annoyed coz I use it so often.
ReplyDeleteOther words that annoy me are EOD, value add and many such corp terms that kill us everyday :P
Thanks for your comments Neha. It is the words that were chosen as annoying and not the people. So trust me. You know the bottom line is you are not an annoying person.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Insignia. You use "anyways". So trust me. You are safe. Only the word "anyway" was chosen as annoying.
ReplyDeleteYes, I find the overuse of "you know" is very annoying.
Thanks for your comments Shruthi. I am glad you love these types of polls.
ReplyDeleteAny corporate term is annoying to me.
I don't use any of these regularly and I'm quite shocked. I read through the list 3 times, thought hard and found one (pt 8 - 'Well').
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I hate hate hate the word 'issues'!! (corp jargon)
Thanks for your comments lostworld. I am glad you do not use any of these annoying words.
ReplyDeleteI hate any corporate jargon. Especially words like "ergonomics".
Here are two that annoy me to no end.
ReplyDelete1 - “Can I ask you a question?”
I think you just did, right? Do you want to ask me another question? Please just ask the question without asking a yes/no permission question first.
2 – “To be completely honest, I…”
Did you just say “to be completely honest?” So you weren’t completely honest with me up to this point?
I hate it when people say, “That’s HOT!”
ReplyDeleteEspecially Hallmark.
Regards,
Paris Hilton
Thanks for your comments The Cagey Bee. Can I ask you a question? Who are you? To be completely honest, I have no idea who you are. You know.
ReplyDeleteYour comments are cho chweet. You know.
Thanks for your comments Paris. I know you hate when someone says “That’s HOT”. Do you like it when someone says “frivolous lawsuits”?
ReplyDeleteYou know you have one pending case against Hallmark. Honestly, I have no idea why you made a sex video with your boy friend Rick Salomon in the first place. Then you both sued each other. Anyway, next time please make a new and improved sex video.
Did I wake you up?. I hate it
ReplyDeleteanother one that annoys me is By the By, a Kollywood special.
I dislike people saying...dont tell it to anybody, because then why burden me?
ReplyDeleteThen..to tell you frankly or to tell you the truth(all the time telling lies).
nothing beats the usage of "like" , "actually" .....wadaya think?
ReplyDeleteHaRy
Thanks for your comments Chitra. Yes I have heard people say "by the by". But I do not know what it means.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Antarman. You have analyzed these very correctly.
ReplyDeleteThanls for your comments HaRy. Yes, I have seen some people use the world "actually" a lot of time.
ReplyDeleteWhat about 'DUH' and ,last but not the least'
ReplyDelete"whatever" really annoys me...!!
ReplyDeletenice post man...something new!!
I'm like totally guilty of most of the things on your list. Honestly, I don't even know how it happened. I didn't like grow up in the valley or anything, you know? Anyway, ummm, oh yeah, can I add some more to your list? I've got like 2 more for you.
ReplyDeleteIrregardless--people use it to mean regardless. Irregardless is a double negative so it ends up meaning "not without regard."
Another one is when people use the word "literally" when they don't mean it. For example, "I literally laughed my ass off."
Oh well, it is what it is, you know? At the end of the day, all I can say is, "like whatever!"
:-)
JaGo
Thanks for your comments. Duh! I should have included this in my list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Nazish. Thanks for saying it "something new". I wish it were "new and improved".
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments JaGo. You didn’t grow up in the valley? Honestly, that’s news to me. Irregardless and literally are excellent choices quote unquote.
ReplyDeleteNo offense, but you visit here only rarely. The bottom line is I want you to visit here and comment more often.
