The Debate

I will give my result before going into details.

Kamala Harris B Plus

Donald Trump C Plus

Now that I have given my result, I want to go into details. I may be biased. ABC News was hosting the debate. David Muir and Linsey Davis. My opinion is they both were pro-Kamala and anti-Trump. They asked favorable questions to Kamala. They even let her say whatever she wants instead of asking her to answer the question. (At least CNN, an anti-trump TV network, was fair when hosting the debate between Trump and Biden.)

For example, the very first question to Kamala from David Muir was:

Are the Americans better off than 4 years ago? She replied:

I was raised in middle class. I am the only person to lift the middle-class people. I have a plan to build an opportunity economy. I want to build homes for middle class people. My opponent wants to give tax cut to rich people.

David Muir did not ask her to answer the question he asked.

Most of the questions were easy on Kamala Harris and tough on Trump. He gave more time to Kamala to speak.

The mike was supposed to be muted when a candidate was not speaking. At one point, Trump did glance over when Harris attempted to speak into her microphone that was supposed to be muted but was not. David Muir was just quiet.

The one plus-point for Trump was his closing statement.

“She’s going to do this, she’s going to do that, she’s going to do all these wonderful things. Why hasn’t she done it? She’s been there for three and a half years. They’ve had three and half years to fix the border. They’ve had three and half years to create jobs.”

Just FYI. If Kamala won today’s debate, all credit goes to Rohini Kosoglu, a Sri Lankan Tamil from Jaffna. She was Kamala’s debate coach. (Namma Thamizh ponnu) Our Tamil Girl did a good job.

  1. I agree with your grades on the candidates 🙂. I think Harris won the debate today. There was not much policy on both sides. But Harris had better emotional stability and poise and was presidential. She smartly inserted baits in her rebuttals and Trump fell for it, every time. She successfully got on his last nerve. Also the hand shake was a good strategy from Harris. It shows the professional side of the person, and willingness to work across the aisle. Optics does matter in elections!!!

  3. Kamala wants another debate so that she can find replies for the questions that she has avoided or failed to answer and ABC idiots did not pressurized her to answer to the point. The Fox should run the debate if Trump agrees for the 2nd debate.

  4. Actually Trump faced against Harris as well as moderators. Harris made too many lies, and edged Trump in winning the debate from audience perception.

  5. You are right. Harris didn't answer the question and the moderators let her go. Also, the moderators were sort of clarifying Trump's answers but they didn't do the same for Harris.

You can read my views on the debate in my post: Harris-Trump debate)

  6. I was dissapointed in Trump. I was optimistic that he had a good chance to win the election but after his performance last night I don't think he has a good shot.

  7. Bman is on point. Literally stated what I was thinking.
I expected much more from Trump. But when Trump started talking about humans eating cats and dogs...and abortion may now include killing babies right after birth...I was like wtf? I'm not saying Trump will definitely lose the election but this race just got much closer. He is no longer a guaranteed winner, which is what most scholars and polls were projecting.

    1. Thanks for your comments The Cagey Bee. You are right. But it was all "set up" in favor of Kamala. David Muir was prejudiced. He fact checked Trump several times and just once Kamala. Also he is a pilferer. Are you better of today than 4 years years ago. Lines were stolen from Ronald Reagan.

  8. I haven't watched the full debate yet. But Trump surely makes a clown of himself whenever he speaks. He is very comic and funny given his use of specific words and manner of speaking.

    1. Thanks for your comments Aish. You have not watched the debate but already formed an opinion? Good. As the famous saint Yogi Berra said: It Ain't over until it is over. Wait till the American people send Kamala back to Besant Nagar, Chennai.

  9. Everywhere politics is politricks. What you said true S.G. If an interviewer silently supports the interviewee, the latter will easily win. Apt topic of the day.
