Dan Quayle was Vice President of United States. While he was a VP, he did and said some stupid things and became the laughing stock of the entire world. These are not made up stories. For example:
He went to an elementary school. Asked a student to spell potato. The student spelled it P-O-T-A-T-O. Dan disagreed with the student and taught him the "correct" spelling P-O-T-A-T-O-E.
In a speech to the official delegation from El Salvador, Dan said: We expect them (Salvadoran officials) to work toward the elimination of human rights.
His famous speech in California: I love California. I practically grew up in Phoenix.
Now, Dan’s son, Ben Quayle is now running as a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress from Arizona. American voters like a candidate who is a family man. That is a wife, two kids and a dog. Therefore, Ben sent a mass mail to all the voters in his constituency along with a picture of himself, his wife, and two daughters.
The only problem is Ben and his wife have no children. Therefore, he borrowed two kids from his relatives and asked them to pose as his children.
Now the story is out. Originally they said the two kids are relatives of a staff member in his campaign. Later we are told these two kids are Ben’s nieces. Ben claims these two kids are part of his extended family.
OK Ben. Now the picture is sort of misleading than totally weird.

ReplyDeleteI thought my cousin was the stupidest. But looks like he is not alone.
My cousin and his parents were supposed to officially go and see a prospective bride (Pen Parkum Padalam). He could not control his desire to see the girl as soon as possible. Therefore, a week before the official visit, he went to the bride’s home and told the girl’s parents that he is the boy’s uncle. Since he could not be here next week, he said he came early to see the bride. The bride comes, falls on his feet for blessings, he eats the SKC (Sweet, Karam, Coffee) and goes home. Next week, he goes with his parents to see the girl. Everyone in the girl’s house was shocked. Finally, my cousin tells the truth. Everything ended well. They both got married and lived happily ever after.
I thought only Bush was famous for this type of jokes...now, the laughter continues!
ReplyDeleteBorrowing kids...this one has gone to the extreme!
What surprises me the rise of these stupid people to vice president level.
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if his son wins.
Thanks for your comments Sandhya. I will take Bush and my cousin over Dan Quayle any day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments A. I always say people like Dan Quayle are at the right place at the right time. Same goes for many CEOs and other industry leaders. They are no more intellegent than us. Most of them are even stupid.
ReplyDeletelolz borrowing kids for a snap...this is just too much to hanmdle.People gp to the ugliest, funniest and wierdest length in politics...we can take that for a fact!
ReplyDeleteI remember a local leader who climbed a tree to announce that he would fight for everyones rights..and then I guess he slipped..
Thats life in politics!
Thanks for your comments Sana. Hope they took a video of that politician when he was falling down from the tree. There is a popular TV program here titled "America's Funniest Home Videos". May be we send that video and see if we can win some prize.
ReplyDeleteAl Gore, Vice President of USA under Bill Clinton, claimed he invented internet. Can any other politicans beat that?
and I thought that people in America are very real unlike our politicians.
ReplyDeleteI wonder sometimes that if there people prefer even politicians to be a family man, then why family values are not given utmost importance..why so many divorces and all?
Thanks for your comments Renu. You have asked some very good questions. (That means I don't know the answers.)
ReplyDeleteGood post, But I liked your cousin's story v.well
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Chitra. My cousin and his wife and his 3 children are living happily in Mumbai.
ReplyDeleteOMG people go to such lengths but what is soooo stupid is that he lied about such a vital fact which is almost impossible to hide seriously!!!!
ReplyDeleteyour cousin's example is so funny.
ReplyDeleteI like your sense of humour:)
ReplyDeleteLoved the post and loved your anecdote better still :D
ReplyDeleteLooks like Bush Jr has some serious
competition!
He posed with someone else's children and thought no one would ever figure that out?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Shuchita. Stupid people do stupid things. At least, my cousin wanted to see the girl he was going to marry.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Renu. My cousin's is a true story. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Latha. Bush Jr. definitely has a competition.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Bush, while welcoming Queen Elizabeth II, told the audience that the monarch has toured the United States in 1776. He immediately realized his mistake. What did he do to correct it? He winked at Queen Elizabeth.
Thanks for your comments Titaxy. Yes, that is what Ben Quayle did. As A said, I have a feeling he is going to win.
ReplyDeleteROFL ... so there are people like them too :D and they plan to run the country :D hillarious :D
