Trump Impeached Again

President Donald Trump was impeached again for the second time by the House of Representatives.  What a waste of time and money.

Nothing will happen by impeaching him 1000 times unless the Senate convicts him.  Senate Majority Leader (the current leader) Mitch McConnell said he will not even bring the matter for discussion until after Trump leaves his office at noon on January 20.

Even if the impeachment proceedings by the Senate were taken up after he leaves office, will there be 60 votes (out of 100) to convict him? I doubt it.

My advice to Democrats.  Just leave him alone and he will leave office in a week.  By impeaching him you are giving more popularity and publicity.

This will also give Trump a great campaign speech in 2024.

"Look, I pissed off the democrats so much that I was the only President to be impeached twice by them.  Therefore, all democrat haters vote for me".

PS: After publishing this post, one more thought came to my mind.  Can they impeach and convict a private citizen?  After January 20th noon time, Trump is a private citizen.

The relevant text of the Constitution reads as follows: "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." (Article II, Section 4)

    1. Thanks for your comments Dee. This is the problem. Democrats and all the TV networks give him unnecessary too much publicity. This works out to his advantage.

  2. I too don't see what might be the point in this... unless they feel they have to do something in order to tell people that they took action and were not passive viewers...

    1. Thanks for your comments Rajesh. I understand what you are saying. Let us see if the impeachment goes thru Senate. Chief Justice of US Supreme Court must preside over the impeachment proceedings in the Senate. Let us see if he agrees to do that.

  3. Impeachment for eviction is not there as he is leaving on 20th. Banning him from contest in 2024 is an option before senate. Should it be done when he is president to conform with the rules is not clear.

    1. Thanks for your comments Mr. KP. Unless Trump is convicted by the Senate on impeachment case, he cannot be banned arbitrarily by the Senate to contest in future elections.

    2. I agree that conviction by senate is a must before he relinquishes but was wondering whether the sentence of banning from future contests can be given after Jan 20. Are there any precedents?

    3. As I said before, Senate cannot ban Trump from contesting future elections. The only way to do that is by convicting him thru impeachment. There is a big controversy whether the Senate can convict Mr. Trump a private citizen after Jan 20.

  4. Impeaching a person who is not in office is of no use. He becomes equal to every other citizen of the country. I think even if one impeached or not he can buy things for his need and spend his life with no hitches. nice info.

  6. I agree with you Rajan. The success of Trump is that he did many things that riled his opponents but he managed to remain unscathed.

I read a tweet by someone to the effect that Trump would love if he is impeached once more before Jan 20th, because of "the achievement" of a hat trick of getting impeached!
