Jeeva Samadhi

A friend of mine from India forwarded me a video clip of a Rama Bhakthar (Lord Rama’s devotee) coming out of a Jeeva Samadhi. He was buried alive for 11 days.

As per Jacob Shivanand, Jeeva Samadhi means “becoming one” with the universal consciousness or merging with God or Divine or Light.

This is too much for my pea-brain.

Please watch this 6 minute video clip and let me know your opinion.

  1. 1.  Why he went into jeeva samadhi

    2.  Why he is returning ?  Who asked the public or his devotees to dig after jeeva samadhi?

    3.  Where is the police?   How public was allowed to dig and take him out

    4. One who takes jeeva samadhi never come out with physical body.  There are many saints for example have taken jeeva samadhi.

    1. Thanks for your comments Rajesh. Watch it. It is not gross or scary. He was just sitting safely. And, got up. No, I have not seen that movie

  3. More information is needed. May be he had asked his ‘devotees’ to pull him out of the closed pit after 11 days to show his yogic powers to live without food, water and air that long. Evidently he seems to have achieved it.

  4. This could be a fraud set up. There are many such cases in India.
But Shankaracharya voluntary gave up body. There is YouTube video. Most of the people (including me) who consider Shankaracharya as a true guru believe in it.
So it is acceptance by some people which matters.

    1. Thanks for your comments Kirtivasan. You are correct. It all depends upon what individuals believe and accept.

  5. When it comes to beliefs, they can be anything from interesting to bizzare. They are often in conflict with scientific reasoning.

  6. It is very difficult to 'believe' these things. Do they get any benefit out of this circus?

  8. Merging with God is the final curtain of life on earth. Can a person remain enclosed with no entry of air? Good topic.
