Covid Inconvenience

I read this news item. I immediately thought of Indian movie directors and producers. They can make an interesting movie out of this situation.

There is a 30 year old woman in Zhengzhou, a city in Central China. Since she was getting old and still single, her family arranged a blind date for her. The guy was supposed to be a great cook. He invited her to his home for a dinner.

Just when Wang was getting ready to go home after dinner, she found out the whole neighborhood had gone in to a strict lockdown.

China’s lockdown rules are no joke. They will enforce it very strictly.

Now, Wang is stuck in that guy’s house. She posted video clips of her unexpected co-living experience on social media.

The above is a true story. Wang is still living in her date’s house.

Here is a question for my readers. (Those hundreds of people who read my blog but never comment, please comment this time.)

Imagine yourself as a movie director or writer.

Please tell me how you think this movie should end. Very romantic or horror movie or hilarious comedy? Or, any other ending?

  2. Good thought, the title can be my dating with real corona, means corona is better than this guy and the days she spent with him can be directed as a movie, it could be either romantic or hilarious comedy...wishing you most and more...I like this and follow ur blog...

    1. Thanks for your comments Unknown (aka Murali). And welcome to my blog. I did not know I would receive a comment on this post by a real movie producer in India, that too within a few hours. (FYI for other readers: Murali is a prominent movie producer in Tamil Nadu.) Being in this line of work, you gave a very suitable title for this blog post/future movie – My Dating with Real Corona.

Murali, please visit here as often as possible. Thank you.

  3. They will take this unexpected opportunity to be together as the way forward. They stumble their way through the enforced cohabitation to discover each other, and finally get emotionally entangled. So much so that when the lockdown is lifted, neither of the two wants to leave each other. And they lived happily ever after.
Moral of the story: Obstacles are for our good. The trick is in making the best of the way life presents itself.

  4. The one liner of the story is good but it is very difficult to develop into a 2 hour interesting movie ofcourse it all depends on the director. I prefer it to be a thriller like the age old movie "Wait until dark". Worth waiting for 1 and a half hours patiently for the last 15 minutes climax. The true story can be developed into an edge of the seat movie

    1. Thanks for your comments Gowri. Movie directors will make anything possible. Take the story, add 6 songs, several unrelated comedy sketches, and a few loooong fights. You got a movie for 2 1/2 hours.

  5. Just go and find out what actually happened, make it into a movie (after spicing it up) and have a surprise declaration at the end that it is a true story.

This is a tried and tested Hollywood formula, a bit old though ;)

    Destination Infinity

  6. The woman who went to meet her blind date was a plain and short Jane with nothing attractive about her.Her protruding teeth, flat and wide nose, squeaky voice and a skinny frame only put off men that she was left alone in a few parties she attended. The tall Chinese chef was no prince charming either with his large bulbous nose, a round and bald head over a stodgy body and seemed to walk with a limp. When he held her tiny hand to welcome her in his big hand and gently squeezed, she let out a small cry in pain.Surprisingly he had a soft voice to sooth her as he said sorry and that she looked beautiful. It was the first time she heard anyone uttering that word to her.
The spread was large and tasted very well. With glasses in hand when they sang and danced together accompanying the music on TV, they found a strange appeal in each other’s contradictions. The announcement of instant lockdown on the tv came as a welcome surprise and a willing excuse to be together from then on.
I would end the story on a romantic note ending in lifelong togetherness

  7. Yes, had read about this in the newspaper :)
Her video-blogs of his cooking went viral.
She has pulled down those videos as her date- the man- got a lot of calls.
She personally revealed that he is the silent type while she loves to talk! Also, he makes decent meals :)

  8. Omg, that's such an amazing plot. It could start off as a romance and then would be fun if turns into a horror, something like Kaun by RGV
