It is always said "A picture is worth a thousand words".
I was watching a Hollywood Movie. I heard a sentence. It stuck in my mind. I wonderd how well her sufferings and bad experience were brought out by this one sentence.
A divorced couple was talking:
He: I want you back with me.
She: I am with someone else.
He: Does he make you laugh?
She: He does not make me cry.
The movie was continuing. I was lost in my thoughts how many stories and anecdotes that one line (He does not make me cry) is trying to tell us.
A sentence is worth a thousand stories?
What you think?
sometimes a few words reveal a lot and this sentence is very poignant and touching.

DeleteIn this way yes a sentence is worth then thousand stories...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Vineeta.
DeleteYes , I agree a single sentence can reveal a lot of things.
ReplyDeleteIn everyday life too, we might be thinking that this person is not bad as we were led to think, but suddenly out of the blue that person may say something so hurtful without thinking, that our faith in our own goodness and the faith in humanity itself vanishes. (I am sorry, I have gone a little off the track).
Thanks for your comments Rama
DeleteThere are two sides to every coin. We all learn it with experience. Powerful dialog indeed, this.

DeleteRegarding your question whether a sentence can be formed to express multitude of emotions, my answer would be yes. But on the subject itself, it is probably situational and cannot generalize. I would have to watch the movie.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Ajeya. And, welcome to my blog. You are right. The subject is situational.

DeleteWell said. Sometimes a few words can have a profound meaning and a huge impact! What's the name of this movie?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Shilpa. I was wondering if someone would ask me "what's the name of this movie". Finally, you asked me. It is "Ocean's Eleven".
DeleteThat's a really great dialogue - so meaningful. I was about to ask you the movie name and saw your comment to Shilpa's comment. I don't remember this scene even though I have seen the movie. Time to watch it again I guess.

In the right situation and with the right people, even a glance, much less a sentence or a phrase, is worth millions and millions of stories
