Need In-Depth Analysis

(Caveat: This blog post has nothing to do with the Indian PM's Security fiasco.)

There is a Tamil saying

“kannal parpathum khadal ketpadhum poi ; theera visaripathey mei”.

English Translation: Eyes and ears deceive; in-depth analysis reveals truth.

Here are two examples come to my mind:

We all know how much Tucker Carlson of Fox News (on air) hates and criticizes President Biden and his son Hunter Biden. But the truth has come out that Tucker Carlson and Hunter Biden are close family friends. Hunter even wrote a recommendation letter to a college on behalf of Carlson’s son. And, Carlson intervened in an unflattering news story about Hunter Biden.

These appear to be at odds with Carlson’s public attitude toward Hunter Biden.

Another example. When Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and a few other leaders visited President Obama in the White House, here is the WH official photo release.

Hosni Mubarak was walking behind President Obama, Benjamin Netanyahu (Israel), Mahmoud Abbas (Palestinian Authority), and King Abdullah II (Jordan).

Here is how the Egyptian newspapers altered that photo and published it (as if Mubarak leading the other leaders):

    1. Thanks for your comments Dee. You are correct. Don't form an opinion by what we read in the newspapers or watch on TV.

  3. Most of the videos/news in social medias are fake. We can just watch/read for time pass. I can't believe the regular news channels also alter/marph the pictures. I too was wondering what is the connection between the latest Indian sensational news and your disclaimer. Ha ha

  4. It really is frightening what image morphing can do.
But your articles do enlighten innocent people like say in Africa.

    1. Thanks for your comments Kirtivasan. My articles enlighten innocent people in Africa? Thanks. At least, some people are enlightened by my articles while the rest of them are ignorant.

  5. Absolutely true that all that we hear and see might not be true. So the prudent thing will be not to jump to conclusions and judgements as soon as we see or hear anything. Deceptions and trickery don't last long. They are called out by others.

This is nothing new nor is it my personal suggestion. It's an old rule that has got passed on through generations.

Only that today, since technology is a great enabler, we have to take recourse to that age-old rule more often than not.

Morphing and other forms of trickery is one thing. Sometimes different people perceive even facts differently depending on variable like contexts and personal experiences.

  6. Absolutely True. Believe it or not that so many news appear in tv. Video clipping from past shown in tv as if it appeared on that day.

It is true that vested interests are at play.
Why would one show public displeasure and criticism when one is a great friend in private?

  8. News takes the course of journalists' and media's fancies. Truth mostly remains underneath, when paid news triumphs. Good topic.
