I received this meme where people are asked to remove their shoes when entering 10 Downing Street.
That prompted me to write this blog post.
Since Rishi Sunak and his family have moved to 10 Downing Street, there will be some changes.
No more English breakfast during morning cabinet meetings. Instead, they will be served idli and dosa with chutney and sambar.
All silverware will be thrown out because the hosts eat with their hands.
His wife is South Indian? Bye bye Tea and Hello Filter Coffee.
Since Rishi is a teetotaler, there will not be Black Label Scotch Whiskey during cocktail hour.
Work order sent to the Ministry of Public Building and Works to make custom made steps for use during Navaratri Golu.
Extra security at the gate when the hosts take more than 30 minutes to say “good-bye” to each guest at the patio after the party.
Each bathroom will have lota (washing cup). That European bidet isn’t going to work.
The oven will be used to store extra pots and pans.
Old yogurt containers will be reused as leftover food storage.
Turmeric stains EVERYWHERE.
Currently, the Prime Minister Question Hour in the House of Commons is held at noon every Wednesday. It will be changed to an auspicious time and date to be determined by the family astrologer in India.
Very nice blog uncle. Proud moment for all Indian.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Coach.
DeleteBrought a chuckle despite the hyperbole!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Mr. KP. This is a sarcastic tongue-in-cheek blog post about Indian origin families in Western countries in general.
DeleteBefore they move to Downing street, did they do Milk boiling ceremony? How was the Deepavali celebration in Downing Street?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Mr./Ms. Anonymous. Oh my God. I forgot to ask these 2 important questions to them. You have asked some excellent questions.
DeleteHahaha. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Ajeya.
DeleteIn reality, I don't think his Asian link will make any difference. Like I mentioned in my post, ensuring his country's economic stability and also his party's very survival will be top most in his mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Pradeep.
DeleteFor a person not born in India, he may not even be aware of half the things you wrote.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Rajesh. He is very well aware. And, his wife is born and brought up in South India. He is a vegetarian.
DeleteInteresting list.
ReplyDeleteThere will be a Puja room/space in 10 Downing Street for sure. At least some pictures of Hindu Gods.
Definitely a first for the iconic address & staff :)
Thanks for your comments Anita. Good ones.
DeleteInteresting post SG.. Let's wait and watch :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Ashok.
DeleteYou have provided a lot of information.
ReplyDeleteIt is like cia giving information to raw.
It is time for thinking. What does one get from it?
Thanks for your comments Kirtivasan. This is a tongue in cheek humorous blog post. I have no idea what your comment says. I wish you tell me in plain English.
DeleteNothing offensive. Definitely.
DeleteI thought lot of information on high level office was there.
Please forgive if I have hurt you in any way. No bad intention intended. I have Indian mentality and feel free to delete my comments herein if you find not suitable.
No. Not at all Kirtivasan. I always like your comments. Having lived my entire adult life in USA, I did not genuinely understand your comment. Please keep reading my blog posts and comment. I look forward to your comments..
DeleteQuestion for you SG.... are all those practices wrong... if someone is of Indian descent and have some beliefs, should they change according to the country and their position??
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Dee. Long time no see. Welcome back.
DeleteDid I say they are wrong? I said these will be the changes. Actually it is a tribute for them for not changing their Indianness.
Very interesting and bang to the point in everything but whatever.. I still feel good about Rishi Sunak being PM , not because he is Indian but because inspite of being so wealthy and educated, he maintains and follows his culture
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Renu.
DeleteThis is Renu
ReplyDeleteFeel proud of our Indians ruling all over the world! Nice imagination!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Gayathri. And, welcome to my blog. Yes, we are all proud.
