Tamil Nadu politics witnessed a historic transformation in 2026 with the emergence of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) under the leadership of actor-turned-Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. Ramesh, age 32, the young MLA from Srirangam who rose from an ordinary family background to become the Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE).

Known locally as an excellent orator, Chief Minister Vijay reportedly heard him speak for the first time. Following TVK’s victory and formation of the government, Chief Minister Vijay appointed S. Ramesh as the Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE).
