Very sorry to hear Actor, Director, Producer Bhagyaraj has passed away. Our whole family loved all his movies. To name a few Mundhanai Mudichu, Andha 7 Naatkal, etc etc.
My wife and I had an opportunity to meet him for just 10 seconds. It was hilarious. He and his wife was visiting San Francisco Bay Area. He stayed in a rich couple’s house. They gave a reception/party for him. We happened to be friends of that rich couple.
We were also invited. I was talking to my wife. Bhagyaraj was talking to his friends a few feet away from us. We never knew while talking to his friends he was also listening to our conversation.
I was telling my wife: “What was the movie he acted in which the thrilling climax was shot in a train from Ooty to Mettupalayam. I loved the movie but unable to remember the title”. Before my wife could reply, Bhagyaraj who was standing a few feet away and talking to his friends leaned back and told us: Vidiyum Varai Kaathiru and went back to talk to his friends.
Our whole family loved his acting.
May he rest in peace.
The sudden passing away of K Bhagyaraj, a celebrated actor, film director, producer and screenplay writer, has left the Tamil Film industry vastly poor. A highly popular screenplay writer, he stood tall among the fraternity in the industry and etched an unforgettable name and fame for himself. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul. rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Mr. KP.
DeleteMay the soul of K Bhagyaraj RIP.
ReplyDeleteI am able to recollect only the Amitabh Bachchan starrer ' Aakhri Raasta ' being directed by him. I don't remember any of his Tamil movies.
Thanks for your comments Kirtivasan. You can watch his movies in YouTube free of charge. Almost all movies are popular.
DeleteI totally remember uncle. You told us this incident in GRT GRAND DAYS in 1998. Memorable days. My father and I used to discuss Bhagyaraj's movies over drinks. How much sense of humor he had in his movies. RIP
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Kutta.
DeleteYes, he was a great actor and an even better script and dialogue writer. RIP.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Rajesh,
DeleteOne of the best directors groomed by the ace director Bharathiraja. In a short time he passed away after Bharathiraja 's demise. Bhagyaraj was known as the best screenplay writer. All his movies were block busters except one or two movies failed commercially including the crime thriller Vidiyum varai kaathiru since his fans couldn't accept him as a negative hero. RIP Bhagyaraj
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Gowri. May be the public did not like his negative role in one or two films. I and my wife loved the movie Vidiyum Varai Kaathiru.
DeleteThough I have heard about him, I haven't watched his movies. That small anecdote you recalled just shows his regard for his fans. He will surely be missed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Pradeep. If you do not have time to see his movies, at least please the plot of the story in Wikipedia for that movie.
DeleteThat's interesting.
ReplyDeleteSuch stars may pass away, but I feel they are forever alive- through their movies and work.
Thanks for your comments Anita.
