Extrovert

Recently I wrote a post on introverts. One of my blogging friend, Chitra, asked me to write a post on extroverts. Therefore, he it is:

People think an extrovert is one who is very friendly and outgoing. That may be true. But a real extrovert is the one who is energized by being around other people. (An introvert is energized by being alone.) They are also called gregarious and unreserved persons.

Extroverts don’t want to be alone. They want to be with other people. They enjoy social situations and even seek them out. They are very good at small talk. They are quite comfortable approaching a total stranger and having conversation. Extroverts tend to think as they speak. (But an introvert will think thoroughly before they speak.) For an extrovert, concept doesn’t seem real unless they talk about it.

They are good at managing people. In a work environment, they will be very popular managers. Employees would love to work for them. And, if they are transferred to another department, employees want to follow them.

In summary, extroverts are interested in what is happening around them. They are very open and talkative. They often compare their opinions with the opinion of others. They like action. Easily make friends. They say what they think. This may land them in trouble sometimes. They can easily break unwanted relationship or friendship with no regret. Some famous extroverts are:

Alexander the Great
Sir Walter Raleigh
Thomas Edison
Eddie Murphy
Robin Williams
Anthony Robbins
Weird Al Yankovick
Tom Hanks
Almost all politicians
Most industrialists

  1. Nice post. For some reason, Tom Hanks doesn't seem to be an extrovert...not that I know him or know too much about him, but just going by what I've seen in movies...sounds stupid I know :D

  2. Thanks for your comments Titaxy. You are correct to some extent. He said in an interview that he was horribly shy and reserved when he was young. But later changed.

You don't sound stupid. In my view, you are a Very Special human being.

  15. I read both introvert and extrovert and I guess I am an introvert or am I a dreamer? I dont know, people accuse me of not listening to what they talk sometimes and it is true. My mind drifts to something I need to finish or something or some one from my past. I want to get out of this habit but fails miserably...
