Not A Smart Photobomb

I have already explained what a photobomb is.  But here is what puzzles me.

Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi must have the highest level of security and his life must be protected at all costs.  What irritates me is these security guys appear in all the photos.  Should they be this much visible? Can’t they be close to him but not visible to the camera?  When I see Mr. Modi make a speech or view a still photo of him, I want to concentrate on him. These security guys on camera are a big distraction to me.

Special Protection Group is visible even in Raj Ghat

This SPG guy is going to save Mr. Modi from India's armed forces?
Why he is also walking with Mr. Modi and reviewing the Guard of Honor?

Mr. Modi addressing the nation from the Red Fort.

American President Barack Obama is protected by more than 1000 secret service agents at all times.  But they are never visible to the camera except when Mr. Obama starts to mingle with the crowds in the street.

  1. I didn't care much about the initial parts of your post. But watching Obama's photos convinced me that you have a point here. Great observation!

  3. Hmm yeah makes sense after seeing Obama's pic. But SG those SPG guys are all so handsome. Got to see lot of them in close up during yesterday's I-day speech

  5. Yes,the projection should be for P.M only.By seeing Obama the difference is vivid.May be our camera men may not know that art.

  6. Good point! Obama looks so relaxed or looks so. Here, our politicians are watched by mother hens (security guards)...they might be saying 'don't do this, don't do that' too! I wonder is they are comfortable with their security people. Rajiv Gandhi and now Rahul Gandhi try to slip away from the security people, I have heard.

  7. Thanks for your comments Sarala. Looks like these SPG guys do not know the art.

  8. Thanks for your comments Sandhya. SPG can and should give all the instructions to the PM regarding safety. But they should stay away from camera and do not steal the thunder.

  9. There is one thing - ghosts are terrifying only if people believe in them. Same way, only if people keep seeing the guards all the time, maybe, potential attackers might become afraid? Just my guess... :)

  10. You have a point. But, I think, situation is not the same in these two cases... May be one day (I hope so), our nation would be back to the state of what Hiuen Tsang saw and our leaders can be free.... :)

  11. Thanks for your comments Rajesh. Some guy has to be this close when he views the Guard of Honor from the Indian armed forces?

  12. Thanks for your comments Sindhu. The only difference is US Secret Service Agents know how not to steal the thunder from the President.

  13. Yes, you have a valid point there! SPG guy is certainly not needed during the guard of honor!

  18. Maybe the Indian security guys want to show that they are doing the job :) or may be the media likes to take pictures with these fellows included just to reassure the citizens that the PM is safe!!!

  19. Cool post!!
I always pity these SPG guys... they are visible only in such pictures, they deserve at least this much credit, don't you think?

I love the fact that Obama is so down to earth and he looks great in the last picture :D

  20. I know what you say, but then i think it just shows our security guys are not as good compared to obama's security team :)

  21. Thanks for your comments Meera. You could be right. Those guys may want to show they are also working. But walking with the PM in viewing the Guard of Honor?

  22. Thanks for your comments Rohini. President Obama is surrounded by hundreds of security guys/girls at all times. But you hardly notice them.

  23. Thanks for your comments Bikram. May be these guys should learn the technique.

  24. I never observed this before. After looking at Obama's pics, it is apparent that there is some photobombing in our PM's case.

  25. That's an excellent point you have mentioned and a relevant one. When I took a closer look at Obama's photos, I am convinced that you have a point here.

  26. Thanks for your comments Ash. The security guy has no business in the guard of honor review.

  27. Thanks for your comments Sanand. Long time no see. Where have you been? I am glad you liked this post.

  28. I was saying good observation! But after being so protective there was no bullet proof glass during independence day speech it seems . I m not sure on it !

Don't know why comments keep disappearing; (

  29. Thanks for your comments Afshan. Yes, I received both your comments. I would say you have a good observation because you noticed the lack of bullet proof glass.

  30. Well said and that's y I guess Obama feels relaxed since he has his own space...and the case shows that Indian government and its people are not still safe

    ReplyDelete
  31. Aha!
I dont know (And I am waiting) for those days when those in power can walk as freely as Obama does and still be protected!!!

    A good point there!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks for your comments Uma. I think the SGP is over doing it by going with the PM on viewing Guard of Honor.

  33. Thanks for your comments Satya. I am waiting for those days too.

  34. Maybe if Eduardo Campos had one of these he wouldn't be dead now. And I think Obama has many, they just don't appear on camera :b

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks for your comments Camila. Mr. Eduardo Campos died in a plane crash due to bad weather. How can you compare this with this post. Do you think if he had enough security, they could have prevented the crash?
